This schedule
will be adjusted as necessary to make the best use of our time.
- WHAT TO
BRING: Sheets,
blanket, mattress cover, pillow, wash cloths, towels, toilet articles,
shoes, bathing suit, sports clothes, bug repellent, sweater,
fan,
rainwear, sun-block, long sleeve shirt (sun protection), and spending
money. You may also bring items for
the refrigerator / freezer as space permits. (I have requested that each student have
access to a “Micro-fridge,” but sometimes they are in short supply.) There is a live phone jack in each
apartment, so you may bring a phone.
Each room also has a cable and Ethernet hookup.
- All
meals are provided in the camp fee.
You will have the opportunity to order pizza delivery.
- Both
residence halls are set up so that students are housed 2 per room (2 beds)
and every 2 bedrooms share a bathroom, which is pretty nice for college
living! The students may choose
their roommates, but all 4 students must discuss it and be in
agreement. Please be diplomatic! Room lists are due Wednesday, July 18,
otherwise assignments will be made by staff. Students that must be in groups of 4
people.
- Having
our camp at UVA-Wise has proven to be very successful for us. While there may be a few who prefer to
have camp at home, the vast majority has traditionally favored going
away. I believe this is in the best
interest of our band. We are far
more focused and productive than we would be at home. During the week we work hard and play
hard and afterward, we come away as a band. The unity, attitude, and spirit
developed at camp does much to set the tone for the entire year.
Emergency phone
number: 276-328-RAIN (after hours). This is a beeper
number and you will be called back right away.
During the day, call 276-328-0215 or 276-376-1000.
